Gopher Tortoise Compliance
FWC-compliant surveys, permitting, relocation oversight, and pre-acquisition habitat reports for Central Florida development projects.
What This Service Will Cover
The gopher tortoise is a state-threatened species in Florida. FWC requires that all potential burrows within 25 feet of development activity be surveyed and addressed before construction begins. Failing to complete proper surveys can result in project shutdowns, fines, and criminal penalties.
Clearmark's gopher tortoise division will handle the entire compliance pipeline: Phase 1 burrow surveys using a 30-foot buffer (above the FWC minimum), FWC permit applications, authorized relocation coordination to approved recipient sites, and post-relocation documentation that clears your project for development permits.
Like our tree survey work, gopher tortoise compliance ties directly into the pre-development phase where SWPPP planning happens. Bundling these services means coordinated timelines and fewer vendors to manage during the critical permitting window.
